So, I went off to my research lab (i.e. my laptop and phone) and started doing interviews, surveys, and investigating everything I could find on the topic of earning more money.
What I found was a group of people who are consistently earning money by following a strategy that is the complete opposite of what most people do.
Using insights from these people and their stories, I developed The Remora Method.

The brief version goes like this…
The remora is a small fish that can attach to the bottom of sharks and other large marine animals. The shark transports the remora through the water, provides it with protection, and even brings it food from the scraps that fall while the shark eats. In exchange, the remora cleans harmful bacteria from the shark and keeps it healthy.
This mutually beneficial relationship allows the remora to avoid the struggles of finding food and avoiding predators that most fish deal with on a daily basis.
And within the remora’s strategy is a key insight that successful people use to boost their income…
Just as the remora partners with a strong host species to provide protection and food, you can partner with a strong host business that can easily provide you with a supplemental income. (Or boost your revenue if you’re running a business.)
5 Examples That You Can Use Today
The true beauty of The Remora Method is that it creates win–win situations for everyone involved.
When done right, the customer gets more value, the business partner gets more value, and you get paying customers with very little work.
To show you exactly what I mean, let me share 5 real life examples of The Remora Method in practice.
Take note of how each example creates a win–win situation for everyone involved. The reason The Remora Method works so well is because it’s focused on helping everyone, not on being selfish and trying to pull as much money out of people as possible.
Tiffany Silverberg is a freelance marketing writer.
When she started searching for work, she noticed that many clients didn’t just want freelance writing services, they needed an entire branding makeover.
Instead of trying to sell customers on something that didn’t totally meet their needs, Tiffany decided to partner with a graphic designer and negotiated a deal where they would each offer a 20% discount on their services to the other person’s customers.
The end result looks like this: they both get more business because they can offer a wider range of services to clients. The customers get more value and have a service that can meet their branding and writing needs. And Tiffany and her business partner end up making more money overall.
Win. Win. Win.
The Make-Up Example
There are plenty of women who sell Mary Kay makeup, but a woman named Lisa Asbell went about it in a totally different way.
Lisa was the recent mother of twins when she decided to start selling the products in her small town. Instead of going door–to–door, she partnered with a local business to sell her makeup in the store.
She brought a product that customers wanted and that the store didn’t have. The store brought customers that Lisa didn’t have time to find on her own. And together, they split the profits. It was a perfect Remora Method partnership.
Twelve months later Lisa was bringing in $50,000 per year from makeup side business.
What About Startup Companies and Small Biz?
The Remora Method works well for startups and small businesses too!
Just yesterday, I heard from a technology startup in Texas called SpareFoot. They use technology to find the best deals for self–storage.
SpareFoot recently partnered with Penske Truck Rental to offer it’s services to Penske customers.
I don’t have all the details of the partnership yet, but my guess is that Penske will receive a referral fee for each customer they send to SpareFoot. SpareFoot will get a new customer. And the customers will get a useful service that they wouldn’t have otherwise found … and save money on storage at the same time.

Again, this a perfect example of The Remora Method in practice and it proves that you don’t have to think small when thinking about partnerships.
Penske has been around for more than 40 years and has developed a strong, nationwide brand … and yet the small startup SpareFoot was still able to partner with them!
The Landscaping Example
Let’s play the hypothetical game for a moment, shall we?
We are going to pretend that you run a landscaping business. What types of products and services do your customers buy before they buy from you?
Well, let’s see… new home owners often want landscaping done. So that means real estate agencies, moving companies, and contractors are all possible places that your customers are already hanging out.
Do you think those businesses would like to offer their customers a free voucher for 20% off landscaping? Or maybe they would like a referral fee for each landscaping job of $5,000 or more? Or maybe they would like to give their customers a coupon for $500 off landscaping materials when they purchase a landscaping design session.
Do you see all the possibilities that are available for partnerships? You can structure them in many ways, which allows you to meet the exact needs and desires of the customers and your business partner.
The Ebook Example
Perhaps you’ve heard about bloggers selling ebooks online. Some of them (this is no joke) are making over $1 million per MONTH selling a single ebook.
OK, back to reality.
What if you just want $1000 per month? How would you go about selling your first ebook? And what if you have no online presence or traffic to your website?
Well, here’s one way you could do it using The Remora Method…
First, write the ebook that you want to sell.
Then, write a short guide, whitepaper, or report (maybe 10 pages or so) that is filled with very useful content on a related topic to your full ebook. You could even pull a chapter out of your regular ebook and use that.
At the end of the guide, include a link to your paid ebook. Make sure you have a very clear call to action that tells people the benefits of the full ebook and where to go to get it.
Then, and this is the Remora Method part, you reach out to bloggers and internet entrepreneurs who are talking about similar topics and have an audience that would love your content.
You send them the free report (the one with tons of value and a link to your paid ebook at the end) and tell them that they are free to send it to their audience, give it away for free, or add it as a bonus download for any products they are selling. Let them know that you’re trying to get your name out there and you’re happy to give away tons of value for free.
Many bloggers are looking for bonuses to add to the products they are already selling because it increases the value that customers see in their product.
At the end of the day, the customers get more value. The bloggers you partner with get a free bonus to give away. And you get traffic and customers coming to you. Make sense?
The Remora Method sells out
When I initially opened The Remora Method, I intentionally kept the group small (100 students) so that I could tweak the program and improve it based on their feedback.
True to my word, I told everyone on the Priority Notification List when the course was available first … and they jumped all over it.
Those first 100 slots sold out in a few days. The course filled up so fast that I barely had time to email the whole Passive Panda community about it. I got off one email to everyone not on the Priority Notification list about 12 hours before it closed.

In this case, you know that when I say something closes at midnight, it really closes at midnight. And you can trust that my attitude of standing by my word extends to other areas of business as well.
